Police are on the hunt for an alleged shooter in Christchurch.

A 34-year-old woman was shot in the leg at a home on Hooker Avenue, Bryndwr at 4.45pm.

The woman has been taken to Christchurch Hospital with moderate injuries.

Police have recovered the firearm used.
