The suspect wanted on a first-degree murder charge in connection with a Sioux Falls double homicide was arrested in South Sioux City on Tuesday night after a standoff, South Sioux City police say.

Manuel Frias was taken into custody at the Nebraska Dakota County jail.

Frias, wanted for murder and hiding from authorities for more than a week, was found inside a South Sioux City residence near East 20th Street and "B" Street, according to South Sioux City Chief of Police Ed Mahon.

Police received a call around 6:30 p.m. about Frias' whereabouts and surrounded the residence with multiple departments. Frias was not brought into custody until about 9:45 p.m., Mahon said.

Frias was found inside the house after a 10-year-old boy came out of the residence. Police do not know the relation between the two.

The SWAT team was brought in to negotiate and get the child out of the house before Frias emerged. The child was later returned to the residence after Frias was taken away, Mahon said.

The South Sioux City Police Department was notified by Frias' whereabouts from the U.S. Marshals.

No weapons or drugs have been found within the residence as of yet, Mahon said. Police don't know how long Frias had been at the residence.

Mahon didn't know when Frias will be brought back to Sioux Falls.

A total of seven people have been arrested in connection to the double homicide and search for Frias. Maria LeClaire, who was charged with robbery, was arrested in Minnesota last week.

Samuel Louis Crockett, 28, and Corey James Zephier, 30, were killed after a "drug rip gone bad" early on the morning of Jan. 5, police say.

More information could be released at the daily police briefing at 10:30 a.m.
