Haryana Government on Tuesday claimed to have brought down its infant mortality rate and neonatal mortality rate.
The latest child health statistics, as per Registrar General India, Sample Registration System (September 2017), Haryana has brought down its under five mortality to thirty seven (37) per thousand live births with a remarkable six (6) points dip, said Haryana Principal Secretary, Health, Amit Jha.
Besides, Haryana has also brought down its infant mortality rate by three (3) points from 36 to 33 per thousand live births, as well as neonatal Mortality with two (2) points from 24 to 22 per thousand live births, said he.
He, however, added that the state needs to stratezize and put efforts to further decrease its early neonatal mortality which has remained stagnant. In this regard, MR Campaign and subsequent MR vaccine in immunisation would be a major step towards achieving this goal, said Jha.
Mission Director, National Health Mission Amneet P Kumar said that the measles rubella immunization campaign would be conducted over 4-5 weeks. The vaccination would be conducted in schools during the first two weeks and later in community sessions to cover around 80 lakh children.
More than 75 per cent of target population would be covered in schools in the campaign and all schools, both public and private, including other institutions like creches, balwaadis, Anganwadi centres, special schools, children homes etc. would be required to extend all the support for successful implementation of the campaign. Inter-sectoral convergence is required between all line departments, said she.
