The Shamrocks fall to Pewamo-Westphalia 57-30 in boys basketball.
WESTPHALIA – The Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates played host to Portland St. Patrick for a conference boys basketball match up and claimed the victory 57-30.
The Shamrocks fell at the hands of PW and their tough pressure defense. It was a back and forth battle throughout the first two quarters with PW hitting a buzzer-beating put-back to go up two at halftime, 19-17.The Pirates then came out and outscored the Shamrocks in the third, 20-1 and the fourth, 18-12.
“I thought the guys played tough all night, but just couldn't get the ball in the hole in that third quarter,” said Shamrock coach Mark Scheurer. “When PW gets up by a few buckets they are just so disciplined with their offense they are tough to come back on.”
Brandon Scheurer led the Shamrocks with eight points, three assists and three rebounds. Sam Mauren chipped in seven points and Will Simon had four rebounds and three assists.
The Shamrocks play host to the Bees from Bath in a league contest, Wednesday, Jan. 17.
