The course has been designed by IT professionals from Google and has been a part of the 'Grow with Google' initiative.

According to TechCrunch, after receiving series of funding and reorganisation at the top board level, Coursera seems to have found a new hold over the company.

Dubbed as the 'Google IT Support Professional Certificate' course, Coursera aims to prepare people for entry-level jobs in the IT market.

Its blog post says, “A job in IT can mean in-person, or remote help desk work, either in a small business or at a global company like Google.”

Since it is meant for an entry-level job seeker, it is open for all, including those who do not have prior knowledge about IT. The lectures would be available only in English.

Troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration, automation and security are the highlights of this course.

It is an 8 to 12 months long course for which the user has to dedicate 8-10 hours every week. It begins from 25 January onwards.

This course is available for $49. However, Google is also providing financial assistance only to US citizens.

According to the blog post, the lectures would be available through "video lectures, quizzes, and hands-on labs and widgets".
