Cardinals claim 111-71 win
The Sturgis swim and dive team dropped a 111-71 decision to Coldwater on Tuesday.
Sturgis took first place in four events on the night.
Rylee Cain won the 50 free at 24.80 seconds and the 100 free at 1:07.71.
He was also part of the 200 medley relay squad with Mason Lytle, Nicholas Stanke and Cash Schwemer that took first place at 1:59.33.
Stanke also placed first overall in the 100 free, swimming a time of 53.40 seconds.
The team of Michael Olarean, Tito Lopez-Arenas, Andrew Littlefield and Derek Garmire were third in the 200 medley relay at 2:20.49.
Garmire swam a time of 2:54.76 to place third in the 200 free, Ethan Furr was fourth at 2:58.60 and Joel Gomez finished fifth at 3:36.94.
Stanke claimed second place in the 200 individual medley at 2:18.57, Lopez-Arenas was third at 3:00.46.
Littlefield finished fifth in the 50 free at 31.10 seconds, Olarean placed sixth at 32.42 seconds.
Lytle was third in diving with 115.75 points.
Littlefield was third in the 100 butterfly at 1:30.43, Gomez placed fifth at 2:18.75.
Olarean placed fifth in the 100 free at 1:17.71, Furr was sixth at 1:18.38.
Schwemer took second place overall in the 500 free with a time of 6:42.25, Garmire was third at 6:54.92.
The Sturgis team of Cain, Littlefield, Lytle and Stanke was second in the 200 free relay at 1;48.53. The team of Golden, Gomez, Furr and Olarean placed fourth at 2:21.27.
Schwemer was fifth in the 100 backstroke at 1:33.21.
Lopez-Arenas was second overall in the 100 breaststroke at 1:21.88, Golden claimed fifth at 1:48.68.
The 400 free relay saw Sturgis’ team of Lytle, Garmire, Lopez-Arenas and Schwemer take second place at 4:45.87. The team of Golden, Gomez, Hamlin and Furr was fourth at 5:55.35.
Earning career-best performances were Furr and Gomez in the 200 free, Stanke and Lopez-Arenas in the 200 IM, Cain, Hamilton and Golden in the 50 free, Hamlin, Tremaine Brown and Golden in the 100 free, Schwemer and Garmire in the 500 free, Schwemer in the 100 backstroke and Lopez-Arenas and Golden in the 100 breaststroke.
