State enterprises' total revenue contribution to the government was 28 per cent higher than targeted for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2018, which helped maintain the country's fiscal stability, according to State Enterprise Policy Office (Sepo).

Ekniti Nitithanprapas, director-general at Sepo, said the office's revenue collection from state enterprises totalled Bt43.31 billion for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2018, starting from October to December 2017.

Chanvit Nakburee, deputy director-general and spokesman, cited state enterprises' higher operating efficiency for their higher-than-targeted revenue contribution to the government.

Top-five state enterprises for first-quarter revenue contribution were Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand with a Bt13.38 billion contribution; Government Lottery Office with a Bt8.48 billion contribution; Government Savings Bank, Bt6.52 billion, Provincial Electricity Authority, Bt5.69 billion; and Metropolitan Electricity Authority with a Bt2.51 billion contribution.
