College hockey: Finlandia men end winless streak at 59

Blake Peavey and Avery Huibregtse scored second-period goals and Marcus Gloss made 30 saves as Finlandia University snapped a 59-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory over Wisconsin-Superior in nonconference action Tuesday at Hancock, Mich.

Dylan Nelson scored the only goal for the Yellowjackets (7-10-2) at 18:53 of the first period, getting assists from local products Daniel Litchke and Ian Ecklund.

Oscar Svensson stopped 21 shots in the UWS net.

The Lions hadn't won since Nov. 20, 2015, going 0-58-1 since.

• Gustavus Adolphus skated to a three-goal lead and went on to defeat Wisconsin-Superior 5-3 in nonconference play Tuesday at St. Peter, Minn.

Diana Draayer netted a hat trick, scoring a goal in each period, and Kaitlyn Klein had a goal and three assists for the Gusties (11-2-2).

Kaleigh Martinson scored her 14th goal for the Yellowjackets (13-5), followed by goals from Amber Heidenreich and Saige Patrick to tie the game at 3-3.

Erica Power notched the game-winning goal with 1:17 to play and Draayer added an empty-net tally to snap UWS' nine-game win streak.
