Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday alleged that the violence at Bhima-Koregaon was a conspiracy against the State government, and asked BJP workers to start preparations for the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.

“Bhima-Koregaon was a conspiracy against the government, but we fulfilled our responsibility. Similar situation may arise prior to the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls. BJP activists must work together to bring all citizens under the tricolour and work towards maintaining harmony,” said Mr. Fadnavis at the state executive committee meeting of the party.

Mr. Fadnavis also said that attempts are being made to malign the image of the State and the Centre. “Party activists must concentrate on building the party and connect with as many people as possible.”

BJP’s Maharashtra chief Raosaheb Danve claimed that attempts are being made to tarnish the government’s image by certain elements who are threatened by the development works taken up by the government.

In an attempt to counter the Opposition’s ‘Save Constitution’ rally in Mumbai on Republic Day, the BJP will be organising ‘Tiranga rally’ in every district of the State.

A united opposition of the Congress, NCP and the Left, along with writers, actors and veteran journalists will be participating in the ‘Save Constitution’ rally. Three young leaders from Gujarat — Jignesh Mewani, Hardik Patel and Alpesh Thaokore — will also be taking part.

Congress’ state unit chief Ashok Chavan said that his party will not only be participating, but has organised similar rallies across all districts in the State.
