Lemon Bay Playhouse stages 'Crimes of the Heart'

Beth Henley's dark comedy runs through Feb. 11

Lemon Bay Playhouse continues its 31st season with a production of “Crimes of the Heart,” Beth Henley’s Pulitzer-winning 1981 dark comedy. The story, set in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, follows the reunion of the three Magrath sisters: Lenny (Patty Tuff), who never left town; Meg (Ruth Shaulis), who moved to Los Angeles in hopes of becoming a singer; and Babe (Sarah Sita), arrested and charged with shooting her abusive husband. The play was also adapted into a Oscar-nominated 1986 film starring Diane Keaton, Jessica Lange and Sissy Spacek.
