Fayetteville man charged in human trafficking investigation

A Fayetteville man has been charged in connection with a human trafficking investigation that began last March, the Fayetteville Police Department said Tuesday.

Richard Lee Akins Jr., 54, of the 1100 block of Henderson Avenue, was arrested Thursday and charged with felony promotion of prostitution and human trafficking an adult victim, according to a police news release.

Akins was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center, where bail was set at $10,000, the release said.
