Man rapes six-year-old girl in Bathinda

Bathinda: Rama police of Bathinda district have registered case against a 30-year-old man for raping a six-year-old girl. He has gone into hiding after the FIR was filed.

Medical examination of the minor was conducted on Monday at the Bathinda civil hospital. The accused had his fields near the home of the rape survivor whose parents are labourers.


Police said that the girl was alone at her home on Sunday evening when the accused took her to the tubewell motor room in fields. Meantime, mother of the girl reached home and started looking for the child. During her search she reached the fields of the accused, where she saw girl lying there naked.


She took her daughter home and called her husband. The family complained to the family of the man, who escaped.


The girl was taken to Bathinda civil hospital on Monday where medical examination was conducted on her. Rama station house officer (SHO) Sanjiv Mittal said, "We are yet to get medical report of the girl. As per the complaint filed by the girl's mother, a case of rape and under the POCSO Act has been registered against the man. Efforts are being made to arrest him."
