1 PhD Position in (Bio-)Informatics (m/f)

Tasks
The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team to explore the genome-wide regulation of stem cells. In close collaboration with the experimental scientists of the department, integrated Transcriptome and Epigenome analyses will be conducted to identify the pathways that control the function and activation of defined stem cell populations. The goal of this PhD thesis is the development of single cell-based analysis tools to
· Investigate the role of (adipogenic) stem cells in the pathogenesis of the hematopoietic and musculoskeletal systems using modern informatics technologies
· Develop tools to describe complex biological systems and characterize defined stem cell types in heterogeneously composed tissues

Skills and Requirements
· M.Sc./Diploma degree in an appropriate discipline, e.g. bioinformatics, mathematics, statistics, or in biological sciences with a substantial bioinformatics component
· Pre-existing knowledge in programming and scripting skills (e. g. Python, Perl, R, Java, C++) is of strong advantage
· A background in experimental research is desirable but not required
· High degree of motivation and ability to work in an interactive research environment
· Excellent English (spoken and in writing)

The position is available for 3 years. Salaries are paid according to the German federal tariff agreements (remuneration group E 13 TV-L [50 %]).
