Baltimore area news: Progressive euchre party to be held monthly

This winter the Joy Sunday School Class at Christ United Methodist Church will sponsor a progressive euchre party each month.  Parties will be held these Saturdays: February 10, March 10 and April 14. Sign in is at 6:30 p.m. and play time starts at 7 p.m. The party will be in the fellowship hall at 700 South Main Street. Refreshments will be available. The cost is $5 each and profits go toward the mortgage principle. For more information, contact Darcy Soliday at 740-862-4343.

Basil Garden Club 

Thirty four members and guests attended the Christmas Dinner and Party. The Canal Strings dulcimers entertained with Christmas music. Special guest, Santa, took time from his busy schedule to stop by and deliver a gift and award to Susie Carpenter who is the 2017 Basil Garden Club Outstanding Member of the Year. Club members brought children's gloves, hats and scarves for the Baltimore Food Pantry.

Basil Garden Club was organized in 1913. It is the oldest garden club in Ohio and is celebrating 105 years in 2018. The club meets on the third Monday of the month and visitors are welcome to attend the meetings and programs.  For more information about the garden club, please contact the club president, Sharon Anderson, 740-756-7265.

Fish Fry

Thurston United Methodist Church will have our Lenten Fish Fry’s on the following Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m.: Feb. 16 and 23, March 2, 16 & 23.  Come and enjoy pieces of cod fish, baked beans or green beans, augratin potatoes, coleslaw or applesauce, roll, sherbet and ice tea, lemonade or coffee.

Adults $10 and children 10 & under $5. We are handicap accessible. To go orders available.
