Developers in southern Utah have unveiled plans for a master-planned community along the Arizona line they say would be one of the largest ever built in the state.
The (St. George) Spectrum reports the 3,350-acre Desert Color development would be made up of four main land-use districts with housing, shopping, schools, parks, hiking trails and artificial lakes on the southern edge of St. George just east of U.S. Interstate 15.
Clyde Companies, based in Orem, is teaming up on the effort with Provo-based Blue Diamond Capital and Merrill Trust Group of Atlanta, Georgia.
City and state officials have approved a series of land-use plans for the area in recent months.
Clyde Companies President and CEO Rhys Weaver says it's a decades-long project and no timeline has been set for when construction would actually begin.
