Axel Tuanzebe to Aston Villa

15:45: Aston Villa have been handed a boost in their bid to sign Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe. 

Villains boss Steve Bruce hopes to sign the 20-year-old centre-back on a loan deal until the end of the season.

United gaffer Jose Mourinho indicated last week that he was reluctant to sanction a temporary move for Tuanzebe. 

But he now appears to have softened his stance and said: “I am not giving the opportunities to Axel so probably Axel is the only one that I open the door for him to go and play because I believe he is a really good talent and he needs to play.”

Tottenham plot James Maddison bid

15:15: Tottenham are considering a swoop for £20million-rated Norwich City midfielder James Maddison.

The Canaries are reluctant to sell the 21-year-old but could sanction a sale if their demands are met, according to the Evening Standard. 

Tottenham are on good terms with Norwich after loaning starlet Marcus Edwards to Carrow Road for the rest of the campaign. 

Spurs could sign Maddison this month before loaning him back to Norwich - in a similar fashion to their swoop for Dele Alli in 2015.
