2 women turn selves in following release of video showing shoplifting suspects at Winter Haven Walmart

WINTER HAVEN – Two Lake Placid women turned themselves in at the Winter Haven Police Department following publication of a video link in The Ledger and on social media showing two women shoplifting in a Walmart at 7450 Cypress Garden Blvd. on Jan. 8.

According to  the Winter Haven Police Department, police received several tips identifying the two women, as well as a man who accompanied them with a small child.

On Jan. 11, Shantoria Allen, 22, and Lashawn Dorval, 27,  came to the Police Department, according to the release. They were booked into the Polk County Jail, each on one count of grand theft. Both have been released on bond.

Jamie Brown, spokeswoman for the Winter Haven Police Department, had said  three adults and a small child came into the store through the garden center and walked to the electronics section. While the women loaded sound bars into shopping carts, the man kept walking, taking the child back out to the parking lot.

While he moved a car to the parking area outside the automotive section, the women moved on to the electronic toys section and loaded more items into the carts. The women then left the store through doors in the automotive section, making no attempt to pay.

The man in the video was identified as Mike Williams, Dorval's boyfriend, according to the release. He is on probation from Highlands County, the WHPD said.
