Cleburne County Rotary hears from State Chamber

On January 3rd, Andrew Parker and Scott Calloway were our guests at our morning meeting.  Andrew and Scott are part of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce.

The State Chamber is very focused on improving the workforce for employers in AR, in particular jobs in trade.   Approximately 60,000 trade jobs in Arkansas go unfilled every year while the college dropout rate is at an alarmingly high number.  The State Chamber of Commerce's efforts are to work with high school students and change the perception of skilled professions such as manufacturing, transportation, construction and computer programming.

Scott Calloway travels around the state to public high schools with a "virtual" trailer and speaks with students about job opportunities in the skilled workforce.
