Fans spot massive EastEnders plot hole as writers 'miss episode'

EASTENDERS fans were left reeling after they felt the soap missed an important plot point.

On Friday, Ben Mitchell (Harry Reid) bid adieu to the as he headed over to France with a wad of cash, courtesy of 's (Steve McFadden) heist winnings to start a new life.

Fans saw try and talk Ben into handing over the money, which he refused, but viewers then saw the mechanic had been double-crossed as his stash had been swapped for numerous copies of the Walford Gazette.

He found himself with only one stash of notes to start a new life, but as he bumbled into Calais, viewers spotted super-villain Ciara Maguire (Denise McCormack) waiting to pounce on Ben in the shadows.

While many assumed last night's episode would see the pair have a showdown on the French boarders, instead Ciara was back on the Square, having a stand-off with Mel about the missing cash.

    Viewers flocked to Twitter to ask whether they missed an episode, with many fans wondering what on Earth had happened to Ben and venting their frustration on the social media platform.

    One fan posed the question: "What's the point of doing these cliff-hangers if they don't even continue on from them?"

    Another added: "Dear EastEnders, please STOP fast-forwarding storylines several days after the last episode and SHOW us what happens."

    "EastEnders skipping events again. Time to switch off now, I think," blasted a third viewer. "Too many loose ends leaving vague storylines!"

    SHOWDOWN: Mel confronted Ben

    However, other fans liked the air of mystery that surrounded Ben Mitchell's exit, with one writing: "Fans up in arms about Ben Mitchell? It's okay for people to die off screen.

    "The fate of Ben Mitchell has left viewers guessing, that's fair enough. All will be revealed in the near future."

    Indeed, last night Ciara hinted her and Ben had some sort of showdown at the French port town.

    She hissed at Mel that Ben definitely didn't have the money, teasing that she had gone through hs things.

      EXIT: Harry Reid left the role as Ben on Friday

      Other fans were left disgruntled that Ben's exit was kept so low-key, as the show denied the fan favourite, who has starred in the BBC One soap for over a decade, a proper send-off.

      "So it was Ben's last episode and he actually never got a proper goodbye scene?" vented one viewer. "No farewell tune either? Are you kidding me? Disappointed. Could have had a better exit."

      Whether Ben Mitchell will live to traipse the streets of Walford remains to be seen, as fans will just have to tune in again o find out.
