A 46-year-old man was running to a southeast Houston bus stop when a tractor-trailer struck and killed him, police said. The driver was not charged.
The pedestrian - whose name has not been released - was crossing the street from a gas station to the bus stop in the 1400 block of Lockwood, near the Gulf Freeway, police said. He was not in a crosswalk. A driver in a Peterbilt tractor-trailer was not able to stop and struck the man just before 5 p.m. Thursday.
The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The driver remained at the scene and was questioned and released without charges. He did not show signs of intoxication, police said.
