Jury selection begins in Allentown mayor's trial

Jury selection has begun in the upcoming federal corruption trial of Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski.

The (Allentown) Morning Call reports that 70 potential jurors were questioned in Philadelphia on Tuesday ahead of the mayor's trial in Allentown.

A district judge told the group that opening statements are scheduled for Monday.

The Democrat is accused of accepting more than $150,000 in campaign contributions in exchange for city business. He has pleaded not guilty.

Pawlowski was sworn into office for a fourth term earlier this month.
