India's cricketing stars expressed their gratitude to the armed forces on 70th Army Day yesterday. The day is significant as on January 15 in 1949, Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief.

"Saluting our brave soldiers and their families. You battle the harshest weather & terrain and go above & beyond to protect our nation's borders. Thank you for your service! #ArmyDay #JaiHind," Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.
