According to sources, he will initially float a politial forum, which will later be converted into a political party. In the meantime, he will also make efforts to pull as many leaders and cadres as possible from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, they added.
"The local body elections are fast approaching. Dhinakaran is now an independent MLA and if his supporters contest in the civic polls, they will be given multiple symbols in various areas across the state, as they will be treated as independents. But, if they contest under the banner of a forum or party, the state election commission might give them a common symbol. Hence, Dhinakaran is keen at floating it at the earliest," sources said.
It is learnt that he has received the consent of his aunt and expelled AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala, when he met her recently at the Parapana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru, where she is serving jail sentence in a disproportionate assets case.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Puducherry today, Dhinakaran said a decision on floating new party will be taken tomorrow, the birth anniversary of AIADMK founder and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M G Ramachandran.
