Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute
Ref: PR14530

We are seeking post-doctoral Research Assistant/Associates to join Professor Azim Surani's group to work on early mammalian model organisms as well as human development, the mechanism of primordial germ cell specification and programming. These posts are suitable for candidates with an interest or expertise in stem cells and skills in the areas of embryology, molecular biology, epigenetics, non-coding RNAs, genome-scale and single cell analysis.

A primary focus is on cell fate determination in mouse and human pre-and post-implantation embryonic development, including the role of signalling molecules, transcription factors, and chromatin modifiers. Applicants with an interest in the epigenetic resetting in the germline, including the dynamics of epigenetic modifications in the germline, and in equivalent model systems, are also invited to apply. An interest or prior experience of working on human development is desirable but not essential. The research is also open to exploration of in vitro models and 'organoids' representing early embryonic or germline development using human and mouse pluripotent stem cells and fetal tissues.

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent experience and conceptual insights in relevant subjects; applicants who are close to being awarded their PhD will also be considered. Practical laboratory experience is required. Applications should include a full CV, a brief statement outlining key areas of technical knowledge; reasons why you would like to join the group and a brief project outline.

Limited funding: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
