- Longtime nightclub to reopen this week
- Boogie Fever closed in 2014
- Twisted Tavern and Red Door Night Club took its place
Boogie Fever in Ferndale is dancing its way back into business this week.
The long-running dance club on Woodward Avenue closed in 2014, reinventing itself as Twisted Tavern and Red Door Night Club. Now it's returning to its roots as Boogie Fever Cafe and Disco with a grand reopening party on Saturday, according to a news release.
Guests will see some of the club's original elements including the lighted disco dance floor and iconic mannequin sitting on the half moon above the bar.
Changes include a contemporary cafe at the entrance, where guests can enjoy a cocktail or dinner before entering the dance club.
Boogie Fever's menu will feature dishes made from fresh seasonal ingredients as well as well-rounded wine list, seasonal cocktails and craft draft beer.
On Saturdays, guests can dance to their favorite '70s and '80s hits. Starting in February, Boogie Fever will feature cover party bands such as Fifty Amp Fuse, Atomic Radio, Phoenix Theory and Rockstar at Friday Night Live!
"After Boogie Fever closed its doors and we opened Twisted Tavern, people still talked about Boogie Fever," owner Mark McConnell said in the release. "The nightclub was open for 15 years and was a big part of people's lives. Years later, we would hear stories of how they met their wife there or celebrated a milestone birthday. ... People love to dance and there was a need to bring it back. In addition, there seems to be a real demand in the marketplace for live entertainment and we are excited to be able to offer both."
Doors open at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturdays. There is a $5 cover and coat check is available. Reservations are available.
