Speaking during an exclusive interview with ZDnet, DJ Koh, president of the technology company's mobile division, said a launch of this next flagship will take place at Mobile World Congress.
However, although Samsung has given an early indication of a launch, it hasn’t revealed an exact time or date.
MWC 2018 opens its doors on February 26 but express.co.uk is predicting Samsung will show the Galaxy S9 to the world a day earlier.
Although the Korean firm didn’t have a launch at last year’s Mobile World Congress - due to the battery issues with its Galaxy Note 7 – it has often unveiled flagships at past MWC shows and almost always on the Sunday before things officially get underway.

SAMSUNG is widely-tipped to launch its new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ handsets at the CES expo in January 2018. Ahead of the launch, here's EVERY concept, leaked render or photograph of the hotly-anticipated new Galaxy S smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy S9 will have a curved OLED display and dual rear cameras
If our prediction is correct, this will mean Samsung will reveal the S9 on Sunday February 25.
It’s likely an official invite will be released soon which will reveal more information on a precise time, date and venue.
Rumours so far suggest that the new S9 will bring minor upgrade to its award-winning S8 predecessor.
These include a faster and more powerful processor, longer battery life and improved facial recognition.
A slight design change will see the rear mounted fingerprint scanner moved to a more convenient position in the middle of the device and a dual front-facing camera could also feature.
One slight disappointment is the rumour that only the larger S9+ will have a double camera on the rear.
A leaked image appears to show the standard S9 keeping its single camera.
Apple has done something similar with its iPhone 8 and 8 Plus with only the larger device featuring two rear cameras.
Other rumours about the S9 include the news that it will continue to offer a headphone port and feature Samsung’s stunning dual-curved OLED display.
With MWC just six weeks away it seems there’s not too long to wait before Samsung finally reveals all about the S9.
express.co.uk will be heading to MWC 2018 and will bring you all the news as it happens.
