In Pic: Subal Bhowmik pays floral tribute to Chiranjit Das
Chiranjit Das and Kartik Das, who was his cousin brother, allegedly had a heated discussion which quickly turned into a quarrel. The family members stopped the two so as to not let the situation go out of hand. Following which Kartik is said to have returned to Chiranjit's house on Monday night and attacked him with a knife.
Prasenjit Das, the deceased's elder brother, said, "After hearing Chiranjit's hue and cry wes came out of the house and saw what had happened and immediately caught Kartik. We called the police and handed him over to them."
He added that they had taken Chiranjit to Simna Hospital, but unfortunately he died.
But the state BJP claimed that slain Chiranjit Das was their supporters and he was killed due to political reasons. BJP claimed that the accused and his family members were strong supporters of the ruling party.
On Tuesday morning the state BJP president, Subal Bhowmik, said that this was a political murder.
Subal Bhowmik assured that the party would give two lakh rupees to the deceased's family as an assistance from the party.
