LANSING - The Lansing School District Board of Education is looking to fill two vacancies.

One of those vacant seats belonged to Shirley Rodgers, who died on January 4 after a decade on the board. The other was held by Peter Spadafore, who resigned last week. He was elected to the Lansing City Council in November.

Applications are available on the district's website and must be filed by noon Friday. New members are expected to take the oath of office on February 8.

Under Michigan law, the board has 30 days to fill a seat after it becomes vacant. If they fail to do so, the decision falls to the Ingham Intermediate School District. The new board members' terms will expire in November.
