Freeze Warning in effect through Wednesday Morning. Hard Freeze Expected!

Timing and Overview:

Freezing temperatures now extend along a line from Laredo to Falfurrias to Port O'Connor. Light freezing rain and sleet is occurring north of this line which is expected to continue through early evening before dissipating. Although precipitation is expected to taper off along the Rio Grande around 3pm. Roads, especially elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses could become slick and dangerous. A hard freeze will occur overnight tonight for all areas but the immediate coast. Although the precipitation is expected to end, black ice could linger through Wednesday morning before temperatures warm back above the freezing mark.

South Texas Impacts:

Expected Accumulations: Accumulations of less than or equal to one tenth of an inch are expected. Highest amounts will be in the Victoria area, with lesser amounts farther west.

Impacts: Ice is expected to accumulate on all surfaces, making travel dangerous. Elevated bridges and overpasses will be especially vulnerable to ice accumulation.
