CES 2018 just concluded and LG has been making headlines in the past few days with its new products. However, the most interesting thing that happened during the event was when LG's Vice chairman confirmed that the company was moving away from yearly flagship smartphone releases. And this year we have already have heard a lot about the company's upcoming handset LG G7 via rumors and we have also seen some alleged leaks of the device. While LG G7 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2018 we are closely following the developments that happen with the said device.
Having said that, reports coming out of South Korean now state that LG's VP and CEO Jo Seong-jin has directed the company's mobile division to start work on its upcoming flagship device from scratch. What this means, we are exactly not sure but an anonymous LG official, following CES 2018 the team who was responsible for the development of the upcoming flagship device has been instructed to cease the development and review the project from the ground up.
Basically, this new finding falls in line with the company's previous plan of not launching new devices for the sake of it.
Besides, it also looks like that the upcoming handset LG G7 or whatever name it will be called by, might not be announced at the upcoming MWC trade show. It has been LG's tradition to launch new products for the past few years during this event. "LG is said to decide on a new launch date during the Lunar New Year holiday (February 15 - 21), and as such, the phone likely won't launch until April or later," Android Central reports.
In any case, as of now, everything is just mere speculations. Anything is possible. Meanwhile, LG G7 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch full-screen display with QHD+ resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The handset is said to have 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage space that can be expanded further using a microSD card. The battery capacity is likely to be 3500mAh and features fast charging as well. The smartphone will also likely come with a 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, 8MP snappers at the front and dual 16MP rear snappers.
