The Lyman Police Department ins investigating a shooting on Sunday.
Around 10:40 p.m., officers were called to a home on Walcott Drive where a man exited the residence with his hands up. According to police, the man, later identified as 66-year-old James Ronald Edwards, complied with verbal commands to keep his hands up and get on his knees.
Officers said Edwards, who was placed in handcuffs, said he did not like how the victim, his stepson, was treating a female individual.
The report states that Edwards told police, "I didn't hit him in the heart, I hit him in the shoulder. If I wanted to kill him I could have."
The victim was located inside the home and transported by ambulance to the hospital.
In a sweep of the crime scene, officers said they found a .38 revolver, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Edwards was arrested and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana - first offense.
