Ellen Mae Murray Petrucci Beaver "Her children rise up and call her blessed..." Proverbs 31:28. Ellen Mae Murray Petrucci, 86, left this life on earth to continue her life with her Lord in heaven on January 15, 2018. Born to Arthur Mason Murray and Agatha Lydia (Brookhart) Murray in New Brighton, Pa., July 9, 1931, her entrance into the world as a breech baby was a difficult one. Her family included two brothers: Carl, who died in 1952 at the age of 19, and David, who passed away December 1, 2016. She loved both her brothers, but because he was so young, Carl's death affected her greatly and talking about him often brought tears to her eyes. Growing up she loved summers swimming at the Beaver Pool, riding her horse, playing ball in the Beaver Cemetery, and reading on her front porch. In school, she excelled at mathematics and babysat and delivered The Daily Times with Carl for spending money. At 20, she met a handsome Italian boy from North Rochester, Joseph Alphonse Petrucci, at a street dance. They married January 12, 1952 and welcomed seven children over the course of 13 years: Christine (Doug) Pletcher, Beaver, Pa.; Rebecca Petrucci, Portland, N.Y.; Susan (Dan) Skalko, Edinboro, Pa.; Michele Petrucci, Rifle, Colo.; Anna Petrucci, Cocoa, Fla.; Joseph (Aimee) Petrucci, Queensland, Australia, and Carla (Randy) Houle, Sherman, N.Y. Mom showed her love for her family by being a wonderful homemaker. She cooked delicious meals and baked wonderful desserts, kept her house spotlessly clean, sewed elaborate Halloween costumes, and made Christmas magical year after year with her decorating, cookie making, and presents. She raised her children to be hard-working, well-behaved, kind, and thrifty, although it took time for some of the lessons to stick. Her greatest quality was her faithfulness to God and family. She preached a life of faith in God and the benefits of doing things His way not in so many words but by her example. She drew all of her children closer to Him, and proved in her own life that obedience to His instructions was a blessed way to live. When she became a single mom, she finished raising her two youngest children alone working full-time outside her home. She always labored gratefully for those who employed her including the Family Practice Center in Beaver Falls and the Beaver County Transportation Authority in Rochester, making many lifelong friends along the way. She bought her own home at an age when most people would have been paying theirs off, and she worked into her early 80's, enjoying getting out into the world and socializing. As the family matriarch and well into her 70's, she continued to host family holidays, welcoming children and grandchildren: Christopher and Ryan Pletcher, Erica (Todd) Bodenmiller, Edinboro, Pa.; Aaron (Natalee) Skalko, Columbus, Ohio; Jess and Michael Salazar, Rifle, Colo.; Megan (Dallas) Garrison, Moore, Okla.; Taylor (Erick) Maldonado, Norman, Okla.; Ellis and Olivia Petrucci, Queensland, Australia, and Natalie and Mason Houle, Sherman, N.Y. Mom also enjoyed great-grandchildren: Riley, Colton, and Caden Garrison, Moore, Okla., and Josiah and Alaina Bodenmiller, Edinboro, Pa. Because of the special, excellent care received by Mom that allowed her to enjoy her final days in comfort and peace at home, we wish to thank our sister Carla, a wonderful nurse and faithful daughter whose skill we observed first hand and will always be grateful for. To celebrate Mom's life, friends and family are welcome to visit NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver, Pa., from 2 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. A service will immediately follow at 5 p.m. led by Pastor Bill Anzevino, Christian Assembly Church, Industry, Pa. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
