FLINT (WJRT) (1/16/2018) - A Flint man is unaccounted for after a fire destroyed his house Tuesday morning.
The fire was reported around 7 a.m. in the 3400 block of Chicago Boulevard near Ballenger Highway on the city's west side. The home was engulfed in flames when the first Flint Fire Department units arrived.
The flames were too intense for fire crews to enter the structure and search for the male resident possibly inside. Once the flames had been mostly extinguished, firefighters began searching for the man through the rubble.
The man's girlfriend believes he was home when the fire broke out. A friend says the man is disabled and usually stays in the area of the house where the fire likely broke out.
There was no word on his whereabouts at 10 a.m. as the search continued.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury at the scene.
