Highest Growth Generation Company in Wind Sector - Gamesa Wind Turbines

Created in April 2017 with the merger of Gamesa Corporación Tecnológica and Siemens Wind Power, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has combined annual revenue of Ç11 billion, an order backlog of Ç21 billion and a global installed capacity of 75 GW. The company grew into the global market leader for offshore wind turbines, earning a reputation for technological leadership, and for offering fully integrated end-to-end energy solutions. The Indian subsidiary is known as Gamesa Wind Turbines. The company has a factory in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, which employs around 500 people.

New vistas
Siemens Gamesa has been mandated to develop In dia's first large commercial hybrid wind-solar project, where a 28.8-MW solar facility will be connected to an existing 50-MW wind farm. This is the first project of its kind for the company and will handle the design, engineering and commissioning of the new solar plant (including the supply of photovoltaic inverters made by Gamesa Electric) and its hybridisation with an existing wind farm, equipped with the Siemens Gamesa turbines. The project, located in Karnataka, is scheduled to commission by 2017-end.

Gamesa has a total installed capacity of over 4,800 MW across seven states in the country. The company operates two nacelle manufacturing facilities near Chennai, and a blade manufacturing plant in Halol, Gujarat, an integrated manufacturing facility in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The company has also invested in a joint venture for tower manufacturing at Halol, Gujarat.

Performance highlights
Gamesa recently inaugurated its new factory in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, one of the country's fastest-growing wind power producing regions. The factory, in its first phase will manufacture blades for the G114-2.0 MW class S turbines, a product custom-configured for India's wind conditions. In its second phase, the facility will increase its production capacity, besides enabling production of generators and photovoltaic inverters.

Recently, Siemens Gamesa has won an order to supply 200 megawatts of low-wind turbines to the Poovani wind park project in state of Tamil Nadu. It will supply 100 G114-2.0 MW T-106 turbines to the Poovani wind park, developed by Orange Renewable Power, which will be completed in February 2017.
