A car accident near the Chikina over-bridge on the Puri-Konark marine drive on Sunday night claimed life of a youth and left three others critically injured.
The BMW car, with four persons onboard, rammed into a roadside tree at around 3.30 am, resulting in severe damages of the vehicle besides the casualties.
The deceased was identified as Nanda Kishore Mohapatra (29), a resident of Ashok Nagar in Bhubaneswar. The injured ones, identified as Kalyan Keshari Samantaray, Suman Patra (26) and Sonali Behera (21), were rescued from the car by Fire Service personnel using gas cutters. They were admitted to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the airbags of the car ruptured, reports said.
