Finally, a happy ending on a story involving Facebook, police and the media.

Bay County sheriff's deputies were contacted by a woman who reported she had found a "partial passport" belonging to a man she happened to have seen a news story about. She tried to locate him on Facebook, "however she did not have any success."

She remembered the news story and based on that information the deputy tried to find an address or phone number for the man, but that failed. The deputy then contacted the School Resource Deputy at the school that had been in the story and he "stated (the passport owner) was one of his students. I made contact with him at (the high school) and reunited him with his passport."
