A KITTEN that was rescued by allotment gardeners is in need of a new home.

The silver tabby turned up at South Church Allotments in Bishop Auckland the week before Remembrance Sunday last year when it was just about four or five weeks old.

People at the Cultivate 4 Life garden were concerned for it because of the cold weather so left their polytunnel open one night to provide shelter and they were able to take it in the next day.

Poppy, as she was named, was fostered and hand reared by Chris Percival who now hopes to find it a new home.

She said: "She is a beautiful, friendly silver tabby, with lots of personality and enjoys plenty of interactive play.

"She is not fazed by other cats and would fit in with a family with older children, she could also be homed as an only cat. She'll be best suited to being an indoor cat with access to a secure garden."

The cat has been inoculated and a house check will be done prior to being rehomed.
