DHAKA: Customs authorities detained a passenger along with 43 gold bars, weighing about 4 Kg and 286 grams, worth of Tk 2 crore 14 lakh, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday night (January 15).
The detainee was identified as Md. Anwar Hossain. He was coming from Singapore.
Customs intelligence and investigation department Director General (DG) Dr. Moinul Khan told Banglanews on Tuesday (January 16) that gold bars were discovered from his undergarment.
The passenger was detained under Customs Act, 1969 and will be sent to Airport police station, said Dr. Moinul Khan.
