Rubina Dinkel, 95, Oakley, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the Logan County Manor, Oakley. 

She was born Oct. 4, 1922, to Joseph and Magdelene (Windholz) Scheck on a farm north of Victoria. She attended grade school in Walker until fourth grade and then transferred to Victoria. She later went on to receive her GED and became one of the first “paras” in the Oakley school system.

She married Ralph Dinkel on Jan. 21, 1947, in Victoria. He preceded her in death Oct. 18, 2008.

After moving to Oakley in 1962, she became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, VFW Auxiliary, Garden Club and Busy Hands Quilters. Her favorite pastimes were gardening and quilting.

Survivors include her children, David and wife, Linda, Olathe, Richard and wife, Jan, Hays, Larry and wife, Dina, Oakley, and Lenny wife, Chris, Hays; a sister, Lena Meder, Victoria; two brothers, Edwin Scheck, Russell, and Linus Scheck and wife, Pat, Macksville; three sisters-in-law, Arnita Scheck, Victoria, Maxine Scheck, Russell, and Jude Scheck, Hays; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Bertha (Rich) Denning, Mary (Harold) Weigel, Leona Scheck and Katie Scheck; and five brothers, Pete (Evelyn), Seraphine, Vic (Toots), Melvin and Gilbert.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jospeh Catholic Church, Oakley; burial at 1:30 p.m. in Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney. Cremation was chosen.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
