Former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze visited Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Monday and was spotted at Alabama's football facility, according to multiple reports.

The Tuscaloosa News first reported Freeze's presence on campus Monday, adding that Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban has "always had a healthy respect" for Freeze, who resigned as the Rebels' head coach in July. Freeze's resignation was announced hours after USA TODAY Sports reported that a one-minute call to an escort service had been made from the coach's university-issued cell phone.

Alabama is looking for its fourth offensive coordinator in three years after Brian Daboll left Sunday to accept the same position with the Buffalo Bills. CBS Sports reported Monday that Freeze's interest in the Crimson Tide "is not necessarily exclusive to the offensive coordinator position."

Freeze, 48, spent five seasons as Ole Miss' head coach and went 2-3 against Alabama during that span. A few months after resigning, he was dealt a minor punishment from the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions after a lengthy investigation into compliance at Ole Miss; Freeze will be suspended for two conference games if he is hired as a head coach before Nov. 30.

"While my hope is to be a head coach again as soon as possible, this restriction does not limit, in any way, my ability to serve as an assistant coach," he wrote in a statement after the punishment was announced.

The Tuscaloosa News also mentioned former Florida coach Jim McElwain, who was ousted in October, as a possible candidate for Alabama's offensive coordinator vacancy. McElwain previously held that position from 2008-2011.
