Bishop Manogue avenged an earlier loss to Reno by winning the Northern 4A Region championship in a thrilling match with the Huskies.

With the win, the Miners got the North's berth in the state volleyball tournament.

Manogue outlasted Reno, 3-2 (19-25, 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, and 16-14) in the final at a raucous, packed gym at Reno High

Neither team led by more than two in the fourth game. Then, the fifth and deciding game was another thriller. Manogue got up 12-7, then the Huskies tied it at 14.

"It could have gone either way at any point in time," Manogue coach Jason Sterrett said. "Both teams, it wasn't a lack of effort, it wasn't a lack of heart, just two great teams playing 'til the end and, fortunately, we came out on top."

Reno did not lose a league game all season and Manogue only had the one loss in league play as the Miners and Huskies dominate the All-North team.
