Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’s writers Siddharth and Garima’s next film is set to be based on another social topic, and this time around it will be surrogacy. The film is titled Jasmine, and is set to go on floors by March – April this year. The film will be shot in Gujarat and Rajasthan and will see the directorial debut of the writing duo. Now the thing that is to be finalised is who will play the lead actress in the film, and producer Prernaa Arora is eyeing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for it.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been heavily linked with the film, and the film’s director, Siddharth Singh, told Mid Day, “Aishwarya is our first choice for this role.” He added, “If she hops aboard, she will essay a rural, rustic character like this one for the first time. Siddharth believes there much of Ash’s acting prowess yet to be explored. “Her acting prowess is yet to be explored as filmmakers try to bank on her glamour. Few filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali have been able to tap into her skills. We hope to do soon with this film, but the cast is yet to be finalised.”

Talking about the character they want Ash to do, Garima Wahal added, “The film puts the spotlight on a carefree woman, who doesn’t want a child. When she offers to be a surrogate, she finds herself advertently attracted to the child. The film will highlight the plight of our protagonist and how she changes as she spends time with the baby. The draft is ready.” For now, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen in Fanne Khan which is slated for an Eid release. Keep following this space for more updates.
