A rally by the Dell Rapids wrestling team against Madison came up just short.

Despite winning the final three matches with a decision, fall and win by forfeit, the Quarriers fell 34-30 Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Madison.

Dell Rapids had a strong start with a 9-4 decision by Jacob Vogel over Truman Stoller at 106 pounds.

After losses in the next two bouts, the Quarriers took a 9-7 lead on a fall by Trevon Cross at 126.

Madison picked up a technical fall at 132, but Dell Rapids answered with a win by forfeit at 138.

However, the Bulldogs recaptured the lead and built on it by winning the next five matches.

The Quarriers fought back with a 7-0 decision over Thomas Seppela by Lincoln Richeal at 195 pounds, a fall by Ben Cavigielli in 3:13 over Brandon Shaw and a forfeit win by Nick Palmer at 285.

Next, Dell Rapids will host the Dakota XII Conference meet No. 3 at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16.
