While Atlantic remains the team to beat in the Volusia/Flagler area, there's suddenly a new threat for the top spot in the Fab 5.
Mainland took down two tough local competitors and has won nine of its last 12 contests. The Bucs, unranked at the end of December, are now No. 2 in this week's poll.
At the other end of the spectrum, Father Lopez, which began the year No. 1, now clings to the final spot. Matanzas, Flagler Palm Coast and Calvary Christian are among the teams waiting for an opening.
1. Atlantic (17-3)
The Sharks roll along as the No. 1 team for the fourth consecutive week. They remain undefeated in District 5-7A and a favorite for the No. 1 seed come playoff time.
Atlantic pulled away from Titusville Astronaut with a 30-9 run in the third quarter during Saturday's MLK Classic. Four players finished in double figures, led by sophomore guard Jordan Sears' 16 points.
Two meetings with Mainland (Jan. 19 and 24) will settle the top spot in the all-local district.

2. Mainland (10-5)
Save for a 25-point loss to Orlando Edgewater, it was about as good a week as Joe Giddens and company could have hoped for.
Mainland won key home games against Father Lopez and DeLand, the two teams which previously sat in front of them in the Fab 5. The Bucs capped it off with a 56-25 win over Orlando Freedom in the MLK Classic, led by Kendall King's 16 points.
The Bucs seem to be hitting their stride in the season's most important stretch, and still have a shot at the top seed in the district.

3. DeLand (11-5)
The Bulldogs will surely feel as though they let the game against Mainland slip away after opening with a 12-0 lead. However, they responded well on Saturday with a 61-51 effort over Jacksonville Raines.
Brodgie Gordon and Tavian Durrett combined for 30 points, knocking down seven 3-pointers. Along with big man Wyatt Hollmann and point guard Desean Woods, DeLand remains one of the county's deepest, toughest teams.
DeLand puts its perfect record in District 1-9A on the line Tuesday against Flagler Palm Coast.

4. Deltona (8-5)
The Wolves have taken three of their last four, headlined by a 72-50 rout of FPC last week. They led by as many as 34, holding the Bulldogs to just 17 points in the second and third quarters.
Marlon Bradley scored a game-high 19 points, and Evan Busby added 18. Along with senior wing Jalen Monroe, they form the key pieces of the offense.
Like Mainland a week ago, Deltona can make a statement in its next two games, against the Bucs and DeLand.

5. Father Lopez (10-6)
With a pedestrian 4-3 record in its last seven games, Father Lopez sinks to the bottom of the Fab 5.
The Green Wave notched a solid 61-50 victory over Mount Dora Christian on Saturday and got revenge against Pine Ridge earlier in the week.
However, they will play the rest of the way without one of their top scorers. Junior swingman AJ Jackson was ruled ineligble for the remainder of the season, Green Wave coach Eddie Miller said ahead of Tuesday's loss at Mainland.
