(MENAFN - Trend News Agency ) Georgia received $138.4 million from abroad in December 2017, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $19.8 million, says the National Bank of Georgia, reports.
Last month Georgia received 16.3 percent more in remittances than in December of 2016.
Russia ($45 million), Italy ($15.4 million) and Greece ($15.1 million) were the largest remittance senders in December 2017.
Overall, the vast majority (92.4 percent) of all money transfers from abroad came from 14 countries.
After Russia, Italy and Greece, other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in December included:
United States – $13.1 million
Israel - $12.4 million
Turkey - $10 million
Germany – $3.8 million
Spain - $3.6 million
Ukraine - $2.6 million
United Kingdom - $1.6 million
France - $1.4 million
Azerbaijan - $1.5 million
Kazakhstan -$1.2 million
Canada - $1.1 million
