Sony Xperia XZ Pro with Snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM to get unveiled at MWC

Sony unveiled the Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia L2 at the recently concluded CES 2018. However, none of these smartphones fall in the high-end category. So the Japanese manufacturer is expected to launch a flagship smartphone at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) that will take place next month in Barcelona. An earlier report had said that the Sony flagship would be powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC.

It was also claimed that Sony would showcase not one but a total of three high-end smartphones at the MWC, namely Xperia XZ1 Premium, Xperia XZ1 Plus, and Xperia XZ1s. As suggested by the name, the Xperia XZ1 Premium is said to be the most advanced out of them and probably the successor of last year's Sony Xperia XZ Premium. However, we have come across a new report by mydrivers.com detailing on Sony's upcoming flagship phone.

It will be called Sony Xperia XZ Pro

In contrary to the previous rumors, the new report claims that the upcoming Sony flagship will be dubbed as Xperia XZ Pro. The report, however, does not reveal why the company has decided to follow the usual naming pattern for its flagships. For example, the successor of Xperia XZ Premium should be named as Xperia XZ1 Premium or Xperia XZ Premium 2.

Expected features

As per the latest leak, the Sony Xperia XZ Pro will come with a 5.7-inch OLED display that will be producing 4K resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor. The chipset will be teamed with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage space.

On the optics front, the Xperia XZ Pro will be equipped with a dual rear camera setup that will include an 8MP sensor with a pixel size of 1.33μm and a 12-megapixel sensor with a pixel size of 1.38μm. There will also be a 13MP front cameras for selfies and video calls.

The handset will be backed by a 3,420mAh battery battery and it will run on Android 8.0 Oreo OS right out of the box. The Xperia XZ Pro will also feature an IP68 certified chassis and a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Pricing and Availability

The report suggests that the Sony Xperia XZ Pro will be priced as high as 6,000 Yuan, which translates to around Rs. 59,550. Well it seems the smartphones will not be easy on your pockets.

As far as availability is concerned, the Xperia XZ Pro will hit the shelves in June this year following its official announcement in February at the MWC.
