India will be up against Papua New Guinea in the second match of the tournament at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. The Prithvi Shaw-led India side had a perfect start to the campaign after they defeated Australia by 100 runs in first match. Skipper Prithvi Shaw aling with Manjot Kalra showed great character with the bat while quicker bowlers Shivum Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti pushed the Aussies on backfoot. The two shared a total of 6 wickets among themselves. India would look to continue the dominating run against PNG as well.

India vs Papua New Guinea, U-19 World Cup: Live score and updates: 0905 hrs IST: INDIA WIN! Prithvi Shaw goes over the infield and gets India a comprehensive 10 wicket win. Target of 65 runs is chased down in 8 overs

0902 hrs IST: FIFTY! Tau strays down on Prithvi Shaw’s pads and he is quick to whip it on the leg side for a boundary. Brings up his 50 from 38 balls. Incredible batting

0855 hrs IST: Prithvi Shaw is going hammer and tongs here. The Indian skipper wants to be quick to romp home. He’s on to 38 runs from 31 balls as India reach 45/0 after 6 overs. At the other end, Kalra has played just five balls!

0835 hrs IST: Prithvi Shaw and Manjot Kalra open for India. Sema Kamea and James Tau share the new ball. Small total for India to chase. Shouldn’t be a problem. Meanwhile, here’s something on Kalra from his coach, as he told Sahil Malhotra.

0820 hrs IST: PNG ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 64. Shivam Mavi gets two, Nagarkoti one but stand out performance from Anukul Roy 6.5-2-14-5

0817 hrs IST: BOWLED! Anukul Roy gets a fifer as Sema Kamea is bowled. The ball pitches outside off and comes in to disrupt the off stump.

0816 hrs IST: GONE! Best figures for Anukul Roy in the U-19 age bracket. K Tau with a chip and it goes straight into Shubhman Gill’s hands. Very soft dismissal.

0802 hrs IST: BOWLED! Nagarkoti picks his first wicket of the day as Leke Morea walks after getting bowled with a lovely yorker. Tough to keep such balls out. It kept coming into the right hander with little he could do. Slams in between middle and leg stump. PNG 62/7

0800 hrs IST: GONE! Papua New Guinea go six down. Ovia Sam tries to go long and connects fairly well with the full Anukul Roy delivery but fails to get the distance to it. Shivam Mavi takes a comfortable catch. PNG are 62/6

0755 hrs IST: GONE! BOWLED! Arua survived a drop in the last over but this time he has been bowled by Anukul. Tried to work it down but misses it completely. PNG 61/5

0745 hrs IST: DROPPED! A wild swing from Arua and it has gone way into the air. Fielder from fine leg comes running in and judges the distance right but fails to hold it. To be fair, it is quite windy here at Bay Oval. Himanshu Rana fails to catch. A few minutes earlier, another chance had not been taken with fierce winds swirling

0728 hrs IST: GONE! Arshdeep Singh gets the ball to angle away from the right handed Vagi Karaho. The PNG skipper walks back for 6. Invited him to drive on good length and it moves away a touch right at the end to eke an outside which carries to Juyal behind the stumps. Decent take from the keeper to move to his right and take that low. PNG 42/4 in the 11th over

0724 hrs IST: First bowling change. Anukul Roy’s left arm spin is introduced after 9 overs of pace bowling. He goes for two runs. A change at the other end too. Medium pacer Arshdeep Singh bowling over the wicket with wind blowing as he darts in

0722 hrs IST: That’s amateur from Aryan Juyal and overall slow fielding from India. The throw from the deep is tame and PNG’s ‘Yes-No’ and mix up is not capitalised upon. After the poor throw, Juyal doesn’t get close to the stumps but throws it at the non-striker’s end. Closer to the stumps and it would have surely been out – even with that throw.

0710 hrs IST: RUN OUT! That looks close. Nagarkoti has dismantled the stumps at the non-striker’s end with a lovely under arm throw. Desperate attempt by Atai to get back is not enough. Goes up to the third umpire and he’s short. Goes for 13 and PNG are 26/3

0709 hrs IST: BOWLED! Mavi gets his second and that is a sublime yorker. Toua goes for a duck as he fails to defend Mavi’s toe crushing 140kmphs delivery. PNG 26/2 in the 7th over

0704 hrs IST: Nagarkoti not getting the same impact as he did against Australia. But to his credit, he is bowling perfect line and length to keep PNG pegged back. The minnows continue to keep at it.

0651 hrs IST: In the other game from the tournament today, Pakistan U-19 team beat Ireland by 9 wickets at Cobham Oval. Ireland batted first and scored 97 runs before Pakistan comfortably reached the target with the loss of one wicket. More importantly, Pakistan reached there in under 10 overs to do their net run rate a world of good. Shaheen Afridi the star there with figures of 8.5-3-15-6 and expectedly got the Man of the Match award.

0645 hrs IST: GONE! India have their first wicket as Mahuru walks back for four. Mavi the wicket taker. Ball pitches on the off stump and keeps coming into the right hander who fails to get his bat into the line to defend. Beaten for pace and bounce here and hits the pad first before the bat. Umpire has a think before raising his finger. PNG are 13/1

0635 hrs IST: First over to be bowled by Shivam Mavi. Starts by conceding two runs. This surface has already looked inconsistent. Plenty of bounce and pace to it but it has stayed low once as well. This could be intereting as game progresses

0630 hrs IST: Teams come out for the national anthems after which we will have the first ball of this second match of the tournament for Rahul Dravid’s men. There was drizzle right before the start and now there are overcast conditions here at Bay Oval.

0610 hrs IST: TEAMS:
