We deserve better

Robert Mueller’s obstruction of justice investigation is now under serious threat by congressional Republicans with partisan attacks on the FBI escalating daily. Sens. Charles Grassley and Lindsey Graham and Rep. Devin Nunes are openly thwarting any serious congressional investigation into these matters with distracting partisan witch-hunts while stopping any real investigation into Trump and the Russians.

Taken as a whole, does this not indicate a coordinated effort by congressional Republicans to obstruct justice?

Oregon’s Rep. Greg Walden has failed to say one word of concern about any of these matters, making him possibly culpable of obstructing justice if he knows the truth. If there is a single Republican patriot in Congress it is clearly not silent Walden, who seems to be in lockstep with our demented president.

We deserve better than a coordinated effort to destroy these investigations in an effort to protect Trump, the Russians and maybe even congressional Republicans. We need to discover the truth about all these matters, starting with releasing the testimony of the Fusion GPS founder. If Trump is as innocent as he says, then he has nothing to fear from these investigations. Let the process continue unimpeded until we know the truth.

A compassionate choice

I am writing in favor of Measure 101 for the following reasons:

If this measure is not passed we will have 350,000 people in Oregon who will not have health insurance. These people will end up in our emergency rooms for basic care only when they are at their sickest. Hospitals are bound by law to see everyone, with or without health insurance. The cost of health care this way is astronomical. There is a better way.

Vote yes for Measure 101. Our Legislature has found a way to help insure thousands of men, women and children that will help all Oregonians.

This measure is the result of both Republican and Democratic legislators.

Don't be misled by what you read in the Voters' Pamphlet — the naysayers are a small minority of people.

Measure 101 is a compassionate choice and the most cost-effective option for all Oregonians.

Stine is impressive

We endorse a candidacy for a number of reasons; many rational, some not. Kevin Stine stood out to me when he bucked the political status quo and became one of only a handful of elected Oregon officials to endorsed Bernie Sanders at a time when it would appear political suicide. That type of guts spoke to me.

I recently spent a good portion of the midday, one-on-one, with Kevin. I found in Kevin Stine a refreshing alternative; candid and down-to-earth in a healthy, pragmatic way. Born in Medford, Kevin has a fascinating history that’s led to this moment. I would urge all Oregonians to take a good look at this young man with heart; he’s bright, possesses a good command of this region’s needs and remains accessible. Kevin Stine seeks the nomination within the Democratic Party for the District 3 State Senate seat — and yes; I contributed $27.
