Police on Sunday late night arrested three armed criminals who wanted to kill a 30-year-old man at Azadnagar Road No 17 in Mango.
Those arrested were identified as Mohammed Sazan (27) and Afsar Khan (35) both residents of Jugsalai and Mohammed Fakruddin (34), a resident of Shastrinagar in Kadma.
The police recovered a loaded country-made pistol, two live cartridges and two cellphones from the possession of the arrested persons beside an auto-rickshaw.
Revealing about the breakthrough, deputy superintendent of police (Patamda) Ajay Karketta said that acting on a tip off they executed the plan. They came to know that a gang of three youths were hatching a plan by sitting inside a stationary auto-rickshaw on Old Purulia road in Azadnagar.
Karketta said soon a team was formed to nab the criminals. A police team led by Azadnagar thana OC, Anjani Kumar Tiwary raided the place and nabbed the trio.
"On probing, the police found a loaded pistol from the pocket of 35-year-old Afsar. The police also recovered two cartridges from Sazan. The police also recovered one cellphone from Sazan and Fakruddin's possession," said the DSP.
On further interrogated, Asfar confessed that he wanted to kill his own brother-in-law Mohammed Shamim who is a resident of Azadnagar. For this task he bought a pistol for Rs 5,000 from a 30-year-old man, Mohammed Sadam a week ago.
As Fakruddin was Afsar's friend he was there to help him in the murder that was supposed to be executed on Sunday midnight.
The DSP said that the reason behind the plan to kill Shamim was to grab a plot of land at Azadnagar.
