Welcome to our live coverage as a 30-year plan to revolutionise travel across the North and boost the economy is unveiled.
Transport for the North's (TfN) sweeping strategy will be announced by regional political and business leaders at Newcastle International Airport.
It is likely to include plans to overhaul the North's rail networks and improve roads in a bid to promote economic growth and close the North-South divide.
Among the highlights of the plan could be an 'Oyster card for the North', allowing passengers to get about with the use of one smart-ticket.
It is also understood to include plans for Northern Powerhouse Rail - a rapid, reliable and resilient rail network between the North’s most important locations. Once complete, it will reduce journey times between Newcastle and Leeds to 60 minutes.
Upgrades in key road links to enhance the movement of people and goods are also in the pipeline.
The announcement at Newcastle International Airport will coincide with similar announcements in Darlington, Leeds, Hull, Carlisle and Liverpool.
